Rec Games Charging Entry Fees

There are some big problems in the world of sports. Steroids, college football corruption, and academic cheating are bad things for sure. But they don’t compare to a growing trend in youth sports….. CHARGING TO GET INTO REC YOUTH GAMES!

All youth sports ran by rec departments used to be free entry, but more and more these games charge an entry fee. I could write about fifty reasons why this is wrong. But the main reason it is wrong is the fact that most of the fans paying the entry fee are the parents who paid  for their kid to participate in the first place. They HAVE TO BE THERE. The kids can’t drive themselves.

I know there are money problems in schools, governments, families, & recreation departments. But the parents should not have to make up the deficits at the gate of an 8 year old softball game. The rec department directors should seek out different revenue streams such as finding more traditional advertisers or create new sponsor opportunities online.
