Commerce High School (1936-1956)
It also served as Commerce Junior High (1957-1972)
This school burned on Tuesday night, Jan. 5, 1972. This was two days after we had returned to school following Christmas holidays.
Two photos above are the Commerce Public School building, Grades 1-11, (1903-1935) and as Grades 1-6, (1936-1968)——-In 1969 the present Commerce Primary School was put into operation.
Circa – 1962-64
In the upper portion of the photo, you can see the Commerce High School complex.
- In front of the gym, the old shop and band building can be seen. It was built in 1962.
- The football practice field can be seen left of the gym, but the Commerce Tiger
Stadium is not there in this photo. The football stadium was built in 1965.
Therefore, the photo had to have been taken in the 1962-64 span of time.
