I am a bit surprised that some big time sponsors have dropped Tiger Woods. The latest is Gatorade. I get why they are doing it. But after all this blows over and Woods gets back to winning championships I would not be surprised to see them back on the Woods bandwagon. They just want to sell sports drinks and right now he does not help them do that.
I could care less what this guy does and what products he endorses. I don’t think I have consciously bought any product because some athlete endorsed it. I know that some people do make buying decisions based on who endorses them though. That is why Tiger is rich beyond his sports winnings.
Anyone,who is over the age of 18, and worships celebrities, politicians, or athletes is being naive. We do not know these people… not even a little. If you want to wear a team sweatshirt or buy a guy’s jersey that is fine. Just make sure you are buying into the athlete and not so much the person. They are strangers at best. At worst they cheat on their wives, fight dogs, beat their girlfriends, point shave, gamble, overdose on drugs, roid up, etc.
