The Tigers had a big night from the defense and some long runs from Deon Brock. The Spartans were able to score late in the game after the Tigers put in the subs. Before that the score was 28-0. Deon had a TD run of 96 yards which is the second longest in Tiger history.
John Cash returned the opening kickoff for a touchdown only to have it called back for a penalty. AA could never get anything going offensively but played decent defense except for the big plays that Brock scored on.
I like exciting long runs for scores but Commerce will need more than that in the long run. I’ll take scores anyway we can get them but quick scores leave the defense on the field way too much when playing quality teams. You have to be able to put long drives together to control the clock especially in the playoffs.
I’d like to see the passing game improve and next week would be a good game to work out the kinks against Athens Christian. If the defense gets better every week I think the Tigers will be in good shape for the playoffs.
