Annual BCS Rant

I won’t waste much time complaining about the lack of a true champion in college football like I do yearly. I think there is a playoff system coming within 5 years so I won’t bother with my player protest theory.

I will say that the BCS supporters are hypocrites as usual. They don’t really have any consistent criteria for who should play in the “championship game”. They just know who they “think” should be there. One year they say “you must win your conference”. The next they say “you can’t have a home loss”. They change like the wind.

But they always make the point of the regular season being so important…”UNLIKE ANY OTHER SPORT” , they say.  That is the key point they use to justify a moronic system to crown a champion. That is apparently not true since Bama had its shot at LSU in the regular season and fell short. Oklahoma St would at least be a new match up but their loss to Iowa St doesn’t inspire me to protest in their favor. I guess they could have just crowned LSU national champion after they beat UGA for the SEC Title. And since college athletics are so pure, so concerned with the student athletes, and so devoted to the importance of the regular season, I’m sure they wouldn’t mind giving up the money that comes with this year’s title game.
